Pulling Its Weight

So there are a lot of people out there who wonder what torque is for, and what the advantages of AWD are. The answer is simple, but picturing it isn't. Torque gives you more pulling power, and the AWD system gives you more traction to pull. To put it into perspective, check out this video. Remember, that the truck shown below is a "work truck designed to tow." LOL.

2013 Touareg Model Changes!!!

Welcome back guys, I know we've all been waiting to see what changes Volkswagen has in store for the Touareg next year. We've already started receiving these vehicles, and it seems Volkswagen has made a few changes to the 2013 Touareg. Both the Sport and Sport w/Nav trim levels will now roll on 18" Karakum alloy wheels.


The Hybrid trim will now feature LED taillights, and LED license plate lights as well.


The Executive and Hybrid trim levels will now feature luxurious Vavona wood inserts. Also, as previously mentioned, the TDI engine will get a power bump to 240 hp, with torque and fuel efficiency numbers remaining the same. Go VW!

It can do WHAT?!!!!!

Just about anything you can throw it, the Touareg can handle. Now, not too many people will encounter something like this on their daily commute, but isn't it cool to know that your truck could handle it if necessary? Check out these aggressive slopes the Touareg eats up, and watch the controlled descent in action.

TDI Power!!!!

Great news for TDI fans (diesel powered VW's). The 2013 Touareg will be offered with it's same 3.0 liter, turbo diesel powered V6. However, instead of the 225 hp it used to come with, we will now be pushing the accelerator to the tune of 240 ponies under the hood. Don't worry, you still have 406 lbs-ft of torque, all while maintaining the same fuel efficiency! Talk about upgrades! That brings the Touareg to match the specs of it's more performance oriented sister-car, the Porsche Cayenne's TDI. Talk about bang for your buck!

This is a Hybrid?!

For most people, the word "hybrid" brings about the thought of a fuel sipping, money saving vehicle. This seems to go hand in hand with the thought of sluggish performance and a boring drive. But who says hybrids have to be boring? Well, Volkswagen has raised the bar again. The new Touareg will be the world's first supercharged hybrid, and it moves! The supercharged V6, combined with the new electric motor, will pump out a total of 380 hp, and 425 lbs/ft of torque! That's enough to rocket this mid-size SUV to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, and blast it through the 1/4 mile in 14.3 seconds. Oh yeah, and because it's a hybrid, it still gets 20 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway.... in an SUV. Boom.

The Longest Road....

The Panamerican Highway is the longest road in the world. At nearly 16,000 miles, the highway spans over 14 countries, and stretches from Argentina to Alaska. Previously, the world record to travel this was 14 days. Volkswagen's 2011 V6 TDI Touareg shattered this record by a staggering 3 days. At 11 days, 17 hours, and 22 minutes of non-stop driving; the Touareg now emerges victorious down the longest road. Check out the documentary.

Can it Really Tow Anything?

I've seen a lot of situations where customers come in and ask about the towing capacity of the Touareg. Of course, being a whopping 7700 lbs, the Touareg can tow just about anything you should need to tow. We all know that VW likes to build their cars stronger and more powerful than they tell us, also. Well, once a customer walked in asking about the towing capacity, again. Only this time, he said that may not be enough for his needs. This was the first time I had ever heard that. So I asked what he was towing. His response was a boat. I looked at him in disbelief, then showed him this video.

My response: "Sir, unless you are towing Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas, I don't think you should have a problem."
